The Edge Student Accommodation

We were thrilled to be be able to provide indoor and outdoor plants for Prestige Student Living's latest Belfast project, The Edge.

The fit out designers of this luxurious student accommodation in Belfast were looking for plants to complement the downstairs space and exterior patio area.

Inside the accommodation, we wanted to support The Edge's aim of promoting well-being by choosing large leaved plants that would fill the corridors and corners and help to soften the interior.

Outdoor Plants

Outside, we went for a combination of olive trees, ivy, and dark green Phormiums.

The olive trees, with their silvery-green leaves and gnarled trunks, would add a touch of Mediterranean charm and contrast against the dark grey window panes.

We also underplanted with ivy to cover the soil around the olive trees. This helps reduce moisture loss and also looks great.

Another addition were some large architectural Phormiums.

All of these will grow to a good size.

Indoor Plants

We went for Dracaena Sandriana (Corn Plant), with its striking white-edged leaves.

Also Zamioculcas zamiifolia (ZZ Plant) as they are exceptionally durable and can tolerate low light or artificial light.

We also went for Strelitzia reginae (Bird of Paradise) plants as their lush leaves also help to fill as space and give that instant indoor jungle effect.

We also added Pachira (Money trees), and Howea forsteria (Kentia Palms) for their elegant appearance.

Outdoor roof space

To the outdoor roof space, we added some beautiful Cordyline, Ajuga, Heucheras, Rosemary, Cotoneaster and Fatsia Japonica. These will all thrive in this space.

I'm so pleased with how the plants look in the space. Our plants are definitely going to help add to the chilled vibe and help with concentration and productivity!

Plants for productivity & well-being

In addition to their aesthetic and well-being benefits, plants have also been shown to improve productivity, creativity, and overall well-being.

Studies have shown that plants can help to reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue, while also boosting mood and concentration. They can also help to improve air quality, which can lead to increased alertness and cognitive function.

Plants in student accommodation

For students, having plants in their living space can be a valuable tool for managing stress and staying focused on their studies.

I believe that incorporating plants into student accommodation is a win-win situation.

Not only does it create a more aesthetically pleasing and sustainable environment, but it also provides students with a range of benefits that can help them to thrive academically and personally.
