Belfast Printworks Project
We've just recently completed an office fit-out for design team, Seeing Things Creative on behalf of Millar McCall Wylie- a law firm in Northern Ireland.
They recently moved into a new city centre base at The Printworks in Belfast
The Printworks was a Victorian red brick warehouse built in 1890 for R Carswell & Son printworks, bookbinders and stationers. In thee 1980s it became a bingo hall!
Today it has been renovated by Angus Properties. It's been restored it to its former glory, keeping the original features and including a modern open plan floor for the law firm.
We got asked to help add to the design with plants!
The brief
Seeing Things Creative were tasked to style this massive open plan office of 9.5 thousand square foot!
The designers were asked to come up with a design that was sympathetic to the fabric of the building.
The office space had large open plan areas, a kitchen, meeting rooms, a boardroom, waiting areas and outdoor balcony.
As part of the design were lots of long planters in the communal areas and open plan office space, helping create barriers and dividers.
There were also a number of very large plant pots from Ferm Living in the main offices that needed some large architectural plants.
Kitchen
In the kitchen were long large planters dividing the facilities from the main seating area.
We chose some gorgeous Aglaonema plants with varieties that had flashes of red and silver to match the red of the island unit.
The Balcony
The small balcony also needed some plants to bring more life and soften the industrial features.
We added some grasses, and Olive trees underplanted with ivy.
Open Plan Office Space
The existing storage units in the office were designed with built-in slots for plants, adding a unique touch to the workspace. We took full advantage of this feature by selecting a variety of easy-to-care-for plants.
Spider Plants, with their graceful arching leaves, and Pothos, known for their vibrant trailing vines, brought a touch of elegance. We also included Palms for a tropical vibe and Aglaonema for their beautiful foliage.
These plants not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also contributed to a healthier, more inviting environment.
