The Monstera Thai Constellation is the absolute crown jewel of our collection at the moment. She’s a real showstopper, named for those creamy, celestial splatters that look just like a starry night sky. Features large, heart-shaped leaves with iconic "swiss cheese" holes (fenestrations). Unlike some other variegated plants, this one’s "constellation" is stable, meaning she won't suddenly revert to plain green on you.

Origin

  • This isn’t a wild find! The Thai Constellation was actually specially bred in a tissue culture laboratory in Thailand. It’s a cultivar of the Monstera deliciosa, which is native to the tropical rainforests of Southern Mexico and Central America.

Care Guide

  • Light: She loves bright, indirect light. Think of a spot near an east or west-facing window. Avoid direct midday sun, as those creamy white patches are quite delicate and can scorch easily.

  • Watering: Wait until the top two inches of soil feel dry before watering. These plants are prone to root rot if they sit in soggy "wet feet," so always ensure your pot has excellent drainage.

  • Humidity: Being a tropical soul, she appreciates a bit of moisture in the air. You can achieve this with a pebble tray, a humidifier, or by grouping your plants together.

  • Feeding: During the growing season (spring and summer), use a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month. Scale back to almost nothing during the winter months.

  • Support: As a natural climber, this plant will be happiest with a moss pole or a sturdy stake to scramble up as it grows.

Toxicity

  • For Humans & Pets: It is important to note that the Thai Constellation is toxic if ingested. Like all Monsteras, it contains calcium oxalate crystals.

  • The Effects: If nibbled, it can cause immediate irritation of the mouth, swelling of the throat, and digestive upset. It’s best kept on a sturdy plant stand out of reach of curious cats, dogs, or toddlers.

She’s a bit of an investment, but treated well, she’ll be a companion for decades!
