Native Habitat: Tropical rainforests of Central America (Colombia, Venezuela).

True Lily?: No, they are in the Arum family (Araceae), with a distinctive leaf-like spathe surrounding a spadix (flower spike).

Name Origin: The white spathe resembles a white flag, symbolizing peace, hence the common name.
