Philodendron scandens or the Sweetheart Plant. If you’re looking for a plant that is as forgiving as it is beautiful, you’ve found "the one." It’s a classic trailing beauty that looks stunning cascading down a bookshelf or trained up a moss pole if you want it to climb.

The Heart-leaf Philodendron at a glance

Origin: These beauties hail from the humid, tropical rainforests of Central America and the Caribbean, where they spend their time scrambling up tree trunks in the dappled light.
Appearance: Known for its glossy, perfectly heart-shaped leaves and slender stems. It’s a fast grower, especially during the warmer months.

Care Guide

Light: It’s quite easy-going. It prefers bright, indirect light but is famously tolerant of lower-light corners (though it may grow a bit slower and the leaves might stay smaller). Avoid direct midday sun, as it can scorch those lovely leaves.
Watering: Wait until the top inch or two of soil has dried out before giving it a drink. It’s better to underwater than overwater; if the leaves start to wilt slightly, it’s usually telling you it’s thirsty.
Humidity: Being a tropical native, it loves a bit of moisture in the air. A light misting now and then or a spot in a bathroom makes it feel right at home.
