Parlour Palm (Chamaedorea elegans) was a favourite of the Victorians and it's one of ours too!

The Parlour Palm originates from the rainforests of Southern Mexico and Northern Guatemala, making it ideal for indoor life due to its tolerance for low light and dry air.

This houseplant with beautiful leafy green foliage and soft fronds, will look great in your parlour...or living room.

Parlour palm Care Guide

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight; tolerates low light but may not flower.
  • Watering: Water when the topsoil feels dry; reduce in winter; use room temp, preferably rainwater to avoid hard tap water.
  • Humidity: Tolerates dry air but benefits from occasional misting to prevent brown leaf tips.
  • Temperature: Average room temperatures, avoid cold drafts.
  • Soil: Well-draining potting mix.
  • Feeding: Liquid feed monthly in spring/summer.
  • Maintenance: Wipe leaves to remove dust; snip dead leaves, not stems.
  • Air Purifier: Filters airborne toxins like formaldehyde.
  • Non-toxic to cats and dogs.
  • Slow Growth: Stays a manageable size indoors.
